Combining money and free software motivation has always been difficult. However crowdfunding appears to be working relatively well (in terms of raising money and also producing the desired software outcomes). Hopefully this site will be a useful resource for free software developers interested in hosting a successful campaign, to analyse what works and what doesn’t, as well as free software enthusiasts who would like to be notified about current campaigns. Would-be backers of fuzzy-happy “open” projects should also be mindful of demanding to see the src (and exactly which license).

This is not a list of open source software for creating a Kickstarter clone. For that try this list.
